Meet the Team
John Schmid
A seasoned entrepreneur in the development and construction industry, with an impressive 28-year career that began at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Finance in 1992 and later achieved a Master’s in Business Administration in 2001. In 2002, he founded Schmid Construction, becoming a certified general contractor and overseeing a diverse range of successful construction projects that showcase his expertise and unwavering commitment to quality. John’s extensive experience has left an indelible mark on the industry, shaping its landscape through innovation, integrity, and dedication. He continues to be a driving force, setting new standards of excellence and influencing the future of development and construction.
Wayne King
An accomplished professional with an Engineering Technology degree from South Carolina-Upstate and Erskine College. With an impressive three-decade-long career in the construction industry, Wayne’s journey began at Bonitz Contracting, Inc. in Greenville, South Carolina. He later joined the Facility Group in Atlanta, a design-build firm for its global expertise in cold storage distribution and processing facilities. Wayne’s career led him to Central Florida, where he spent nine years as Vice President and partner at Schmid Construction. From there he held the position of Vice President at CCS Construction, specializing in the retail market—a member of ICSC and Retail Live. Beyond construction, he has made community contributions, serving as a Board member for the South Lake Community Foundation, a Trustee at Clermont First Methodist Church, and a member of the Shareholders Society at UCF.
Wyatt Marks
A University of Florida (UF) graduate with a degree in Building Construction (BCN), Wyatt has cultivated a distinguished career in various construction sectors, including heavy civil, residential, and themed entertainment. Holding licenses as a Real Estate Broker and General Contractor, Wyatt combines his educational background and hands-on experience to provide unmatched expertise in construction and real estate. His commitment to excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction defines his approach to every project, ensuring outstanding results and successful experiences.
